The wonders of the Cassowary Coast will be promoted at this week's Townsville 400 V8 Supercars as part of Council's first I-VAN roadshow.
Council's mobile visitor information centre and staff have hit the road for one of the north's biggest annual events.
The Townsville 400 V-8 Supercars bring 140,000 people to Townsville's inner-city venue for three days of racing and concerts.
Cr Ben Heath said the event was a great opportunity for the Cassowary Coast. "Council approached Townsville 400 for this opportunity,'' he said.
"Each year over 100,000 of our visitors come from the Townsville region.
"We want to build on the Cassowary Coast's drive market and an event like this one, with the ability to attract 140,000 people from the Townsville region and beyond, is a great chance to sell this region to visitors and potential future residents.
"There will be a focus on families and adventure experiences. Rather than wait for visitors to come to our region, we are actively seeking them out by going to them."
Cr Heath said the Townsville 400 trip would be the first of many for the mobile visitor information centre.
He said several Cassowary Coast tourism operators would be joining Council in Townsville to sell the region.
